Morton Blackwell: Congratulations. There is a definitely measurable half-life in independent and conservative student publications – you’ve beat the odds, good for you.

CR: Thank you very much. We thought for this 30th anniversary that we should have an interview from someone very prominent within the conservative movement.

MB: Well I don’t know if I qualify but I’m happy to be interviewed.

VIDEO: A Freedom Pat a Day Keeps the Terrorists Away!

Angad Walia is an officer for the UC San Diego Young Americans for Liberty. Check out the video and photos of this group's Anti-TSA activism at the bottom of the post.

As students at the University of California, San Diego prepared to fly, drive, hitchhike, walk, or crawl to their destinations this past Thanksgiving break, the Young Americans for Liberty at UCSD left them with a little reminder before getting into their desired mode of transportation: the Federal Government is here to keep you safe!

We took it upon ourelves to make sure that their peers were up-to-date on the new TSA screening requirements currently in effect in airports (and now some train stations, bus terminals, and highways) across the country.

In the case of UCSD, these requirements include such practices as placing all freedoms in a quart-sized plastic bag before traveling, and to always consent to mandatory searches and seizures to ensure swift movement and passage through security checkpoints.

Mainstream Campus Bias

As conservatives, we often hear about the "mainstream media bias" against the GOP on the national scale. But one area often overlooked is that of the mainstream campus bias. The journalists who seem to be incapable of reporting facts, and instead discuss how the Democrats give them "tingles," don't just show up on CNN out of the blue. These "journalists" are taught that the way MSNBC, The New York Times and the like) report facts is, in fact, the proper way to report the news. This begins in the journalism schools at major universities across the United States.

Jury (And This Writer): Irvine 11 Thugs, Not Heroes

Justice has finally been served against those who would deny others the freedom of speech at the University of California - Irvine.

After nearly two years of back and forth in the court of public opinion, a jury took only two hours to reach a guilty verdict against 10 Southern California student activists from the Muslim Student Association who repeatedly interrupted a campus speech by the Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. in early 2010.

Economic Ignorance on Parade - Leftists Seek to Tax Oil for Big Government

This week, I'm taking a tour of Riverside County, CA community colleges with a student leader who is looking to help foster activism on two year campuses in the area in hope of building a good stream of leadership for the local UC Campus.

You might remember UC Riverside (UCR) for being the university where you can get a minor in Marxism.

Many California community colleges offer guaranteed acceptance into UCR for proper completion of a two-year program, so it's not out of turn to say many of the student leaders at local Moreno Valley Colle

California's Message to Illegal Immigrants: "Bring Your Kids, Bring Your Wife"

adamweinberg
By Adam Weinberg, on Jul 27, 2011 @ California State University - Los Angeles

Believe it or not, there is a certain school of free market thinking which is favorable to all forms of immigration - chalking illegal immigration up to something of a victimless crime. We all know that a significant portion of the illegal immigration problem has always been business interests looking for cheaper labor.

But with the acceleration of California's experiment in deep blue statism, the taxpayer is frequently on the hook for this lawless behavior and the full scope and cost of the offenses are becoming more apparent.  This is especially true as a generation of children brought into the country illegally by their parents are becoming college-aged and are just as eager for an inexpensive or free education as their peers.

Youth Leads Charge to Stand With Israel

Gabriella Hoffman is a student at the University of California-San Diego and a graduate of the Leadership Institute Youth Leadership School. Her article on her effort to organize an American counterpart to Glenn Beck's upcoming rally in Israel appeared in the Washington Times online Communities section.

In this grave time, Americans must be bold in their actions. What better way to exude boldness than restoring courage in America and standing with Israel?

President Obama suggested that Israel return to its pre-1967 borders during a May 19th speech on the Middle East.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu immediately rebuked Obama's speech and affirmed that these proposed plans would make Israel "indefensible."

If one criticizes the president, expect to be put on a black list or deemed 'racist'. If one is conservative, expect vicious attacks labeling one a homophobe, exploiter, fascist, etc. If one is pro-Israel, expect to be labeled a 'human rights violator' by people who condone terror and anti-Semitism.

Dateline: California State University, San Bernardino, April 21, 2011.

Things were not looking good for our chapter. YAL's official "Visualize the Debt" week occurred during our Spring Break. No problem, we thought, we'll just do it the week before. However the weather had other plans. And so we kept putting off until finally, on April 21, we were able to put up that giant clock for the whole school to see.
